Marruecos!

My first journey into Morocco was an interesting experience, and I'm very glad I am going back in April with my interest group.
We got on the bus at about 5pm on Friday and drove a couple hours down to the port in Tarifa to catch our ferry. The ferry ride didn't take long and soon enough we were having our passports stamped at the Tangier port! Time to pile back on the bus and drive about ten minutes through the dark to the hotel. We had a buffet dinner there consisting mostly of vegetables.
The next day we started early with a quick bus tour of Tangier, stopping to look across the Strait of Gibraltar. Unfortunately it was too overcast to see Spain.
Then it was back onto the bus to go to Chefchouen: the blue city. We had lunch all together: salad, chicken and rice, and fruit, and then we had a tour. The man was very old and wore the typical Moroccan robe with a pointed hood. He was speaking English and I still have no idea what he was saying.

I absolutely love these hand knockers. I took a picture of every one I saw.
We tried the typical Moroccan mint tea. It was delicious.
Back at the hotel, there was a little performance with music and dancing. A man put a tray of lit candles on my head!!! I wish we had a picture of that.
Sunday we went to Asilah. I liked it much better than Chefchouen. It was right on the coast and was smaller and quieter. There were lots of murals on the walls and Miranda and I met a really nice calligrapher who wrote both our names in Arabic for free!

Then came the much anticipated camel rides!!! Everyone had a blast with the camels haha.

Even more hyped up was the couscous. Manu told us that we were going to eat the best couscous in Morocco. We took the bus back to Tangier and after some salad, they put this monster down in front of us:

It was absolutely delicious! I could not stop eating it! Roasted veggies, chickpeas, sweet onions, raisins, it was so amazing. Then for dessert there were orange slices with cinnamon. Mmmm. What a tasty way to end the trip. We watched the sun set from the ferry and arrived safely back in Spain.
