Waving goodbye to my last free weekend for a LONG time

Last weekend following the symphony was pretty low key. On Saturday I went to the Seville Archaeology Museum and truly had a good time browsing through the exhibits solo. I then returned home to watch the live feed of the Northeastern Powerlifting meet back in PA! It was really fun to be able to see my teammates killing it on the platform. Go Iron Lions!!!

I had another interest group activity which was misleadingly called "Sabor de Espana" (Taste of Spain) because we never got to taste food of any kind... We had a short tour through the alleys, stopping at various types of architecture to learn about the types of foods that outside influences brought into Spain. For example, the Romans brought lentils, the Greeks brought olives and wine, the Jews brought migas, the Moroccan servants in the convents brought magdalenas, and Cristobal Colon (Christopher Columbus) brought potatoes, tomatoes, and chocolate from the Americas.

The school week continued on after that as usual until I got a message from Manu saying that he wanted Miranda and me to go on a trip with Discover Excursions to shoot photos and write for the blog and flyers! We were over the moon and decided to take the trip this weekend. We leave in a matter of hours! My first time to Africa! How exciting :)

Last night I met up with Vivek again to talk in Spanish. I can go along comfortably for a while and then I'll run into a sentence that I just can't figure out how to say and I get really frustrated. Good thing he's fluent in English too hahaha.

Now, as happy as I am traveling this semester, I am still disappointed that I cannot attend Thon this year to cheer on the Powerlifting Team's dancers: Logan and Matt. Today the 46 hour dance marathon begins to raise money and awareness to fight pediatric cancer. I didn't truly grasp how amazing it is until I went for the first time last year. It was an incredible and very powerful experience for so many reasons.

FTK!!!
