Classes and Cordoba

This past week has been for the most part taken up with class and homework. We have had several outside of the classroom assignments where we had to approach locals on the street and talk to them about one thing or another. The most recent one was about America and the stereotypes surrounding it. The usual comments about the US included that it is very big and powerful, but it thinks it is king of the world; that Americans are either really fat or really sporty with blond hair and blue eyes; and that the economy and employment rates are really good. It was really interesting to hear what people thought.
I had a test on Friday and got a B+, so I'm happy with that. We have covered A LOT of material. I have been pretty sluggish recently without working out regularly so I went to buy a membership at a gym. I just start to think my Spanish is really good and then I enter a new situation and it all falls apart because I don't know any of the vocabulary hahaha. But now I have somewhere to work out so I'm feeling much better. This is the view from the treadmill:

The soccer game was pretty interesting to watch especially when the boys stopped playing to start shoving each other in the middle of the field. The ref didn't seem terribly concerned.
On Saturday, I went to Cordoba for a day trip with CIEE. It was about an hour and a half drive away. The rolling hills and flat farm land looked very similar to the central valley.
We're going to Twin Rivers!

The city itself was pretty, but not even close to Seville. The only thing that really blew me away was the Mezquita. A mosque with a cathedral inside of it!! Truly breathtaking.

Lunch in the courtyard.
Next weekend is an overnight in Granada! :)
